Happy Friday! Here’s a little inspiration to get crafty this weekend (I need it!). Meet my new artist crush - Julia Goodman.  In the photos above, Goodman is creating a papyrus solely of beets. Read more about Julia here via In the Make (my new favorite site). I kinda want to just move to California right now, so I can take one of her papermaking workshops.

sort of coal

3.27.2012

When I think of coal, I think of coal mines (Hunger Games!) or grilling.  Mixing both age-old Asian practice & Scandinavian design, Sort of Coal changes the way I ever viewed coal.  White coal naturally purifies the air, body, or water. For example, the first item (the water bottle & white coal) – by placing the coal in the water, it absorbs chlorine & releases minerals.  A coal this size is reusable for up to a month! The 2nd item, the Chikutan Sticks, will absorb impurities in your cocktail & give it a fresher taste. Check out their other products like shampoo, soap & necklaces – I’m tempted to try it!

Kate Spade’s new arrivals for spring are fun & vibrant!  I loved them so much, I have decided to try out tennis myself.  My boss is a tennis player herself, so she is donating her first rackets to me & Tim!  I’m so excited to get out, exercise, & try something new.

Cat Woman.

1.30.2012

If you asked me 10 years, 5 years, 5 months ago if I would ever have a cat – I’d probably say no.  I’m a dog person but it seems 2012 is about the unexpected.  I’ve been dying for a pet lately.  And with the 3 different apartments in less than a year, I’m not sure one can fit into my lifestyle.  So I decided to foster a cat with the blessing of my roommate & boyfriend.  It makes sense right? New York City, small spaces, mice, easy to take care of (fingers crossed!).  So last night, little Maya was dropped off.  She’s a bit shy and very vocal but you can tell she secretly wants to hang out.  I haven’t got a good picture of her yet, but I’ll try to get one tonight.

Above photo is from a 1961 black cat audition for a black cat.

Flora Grubb Gardens

12.21.2011

After seeing Flora Grubb’s vertical flowers & gardens on Design*Sponge, I knew I had to purchase a few.  I ended up getting the Thigmotrope Satellite Fleet and I absolutely love them.  It puts some life into my room and airplants are perfect for my city dwelling lifestyle.

matt bernson

10.25.2011

I love reading about what designers/entrepreneurs did in the past to get to where they are now.  Matt Bernson used to work as a construction worker, but now he goes to work daily in his Tribeca studio creating hand crafted, high quality shoes.  Not only are the shoes eco-friendly, they’re elegant and casual – perfect for any occasion.  Shop here. *I love his construction inspired boot.

internet buttons

10.13.2011

Know someone that is not so computer savvy and could use a little simplicity in their life?  Set them up an internet buttons page, it’s free and it will make their life (and your life) a little bit easier.

Check out the video below.
